OpenShot Linux video editor updated, a report from The H.Update: The developers have now published a 3D Titles Demonstration Video on their blog that includes previews of various animated titles. The latest stable release is version 1.1.3 from the 12th of April. OpenShot is released under version 3 of the GNU General Public Licence (GPLv3). More details about the Animated Title Editor, including a screenshot walkthrough, can be found in a post by Thomas on the OpenShot blog. The developers consider the new feature to be at an "alpha" stage of development and note that it will not be available until the next version is released.

Specifically designed for video editors, the multi-lingual platform lets teams adjust color contrasts, brightness, and add time or motion effects across. After selecting a 3D template, users can customise their settings, such as the text, colour, size and font, and render the animation (created as a RGBA image sequence) so that it can be added to their OpenShot project as a clip. Administrators can use OpenShot Video Editor to add animation effects such as fade, flying text, snow, and bounce, watermarks, 3D titles, and audio tracks among others to enhance the videos. The new feature, called the "Animated Title Editor", uses version 2.5 of the open source Blender 3D content creation suite to generate animated 3D title sequences behind the scenes.Īccording to OpenShot creator Jonathan Thomas, the long awaited feature will "bring the power of Blender, the creativity of the Blender community (in the form of templates) to OpenShot in the most intuitive interface possible".
